The AmpliMax Large Seed DNA Kit is designed for genomic DNA preparation from sorghum, barley, wheat and bean seeds. The magnetic bead chemistry can be used for smaller manual workflows or transferred to automated systems for routine and high-throughput processing.
Good sample preparation helps the lysis chemistry reach the cells throughout the seed material. Small batches can be ground manually using liquid nitrogen and a mortar and pestle. Higher-throughput laboratories can use a bead mill or tissue homogeniser with 3-5 mm stainless-steel beads in robust tubes or compatible deep-well plates.
A proprietary nucleic acid recovery enhancer supports DNA capture on the magnetic beads. The wash chemistry reduces starch and polysaccharides, while the final wash removes residual detergents and other compounds that could interfere with downstream assays.
The method has been validated on Tianlong Libex and Seegene SEEPrep32. It is also compatible with KingFisher, Revvity chemagic 360, LGC oKtopure and configurable liquid handlers from Hamilton, Beckman Coulter, Tecan and Opentrons. For configurable liquid handlers, the user laboratory is responsible for instrument programming, labware selection and local workflow verification.
Gene Vantage offers standard kit sizes as well as custom high-throughput kits packaged to process between 500 and 50,000 DNA extractions. Each custom solution can be tailored to your sample type, preparation method, laboratory infrastructure, automation platform, throughput and downstream application, helping you establish a practical and cost-effective workflow for your laboratory. Local manufacture in South Africa provides shorter lead times, dependable supply and direct access to technical support throughout method implementation.
