The IsoBind Mealworm DNA Kit is designed for food, feed and research laboratories that need genomic DNA from mealworm and other insect-derived matrices. It combines mechanical tissue disruption with manual silica spin-column purification.
Complete homogenisation breaks the chitinous exoskeleton before Proteinase K lysis releases the DNA. The cleared lysate is then bound to the silica membrane, washed to reduce chitin-associated and lipid contaminants, and eluted for downstream use.
The kit processes mealworm tissue and other insect-derived protein samples. The manual workflow takes approximately 45 minutes and requires a bead beater or equivalent homogenisation method plus a standard laboratory centrifuge.
Purified DNA is suitable for species authentication, GMO detection in insect-derived products, microbiome analysis and food or feed research. Local technical support is available for difficult sample preparation.
